Black Canvas

Main Stage - Sunday

Hailing from the coastal historic town of Whitehaven in Cumbria, Blank Canvas are the antidote to mainstream routine rock, prog and blues covers. Blank Canvas love playing those songs everyone forgot they knew - great songs that other bands just don't play.

With over 120 years of live experience between the five-piece powerhouse outfit - this is serious music by serious musicians…

Fronted by the big man with a big presence and even bigger voice ‘Big Steve‘ Harper – belting out numbers ranging from Rag & Bone Man to Clutch to B.B. King to 10cc to Elbow.

Backing vocalist and peerless lead guitarist Paul Barnes effortlessly gives the songs his own highly melodic treatment and tone through gut-wrenchingly memorable soloing to subtle overtones. The ex Plateau and Off The Hook fret botherer has to be seen and heard to be believed. Chest thumping, heavy rocking through sweet melodic bass is provided by Andrew Hatton – ex Dead Man’s Jacket & current Legion low end provider. Completing the percussion and rhythm grounding for the band is drummer Mike Little – think Neil Peart – ‘nuff said. Orchestral polyphonics to gritty Hammond keys are brought to you by Peter ‘Fingers’ Hufton – ex Catfish and current Faction ivory tinkler

Hitting the studio later in the year to settle down to laying down a number of original tracks at Man Mountain Music to get out years of experience can’t come too soon for the band.
